A versatile artist.

Mirjam was born in Germany and has since lived and worked in countries all over Europe. She is fluent in German, English, French, Italian and of course — ballet. As a ballerina, Mirjam displays a unique, elegant quality of movement that is enjoyable to watch. The way she projects emotions through her upper body infuses choreography with meaning, and her spirited nature adds liveliness to technical sequences.

Mirjam’s repertoire as a dancer ranges from traditional classical pieces such as The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, and Giselle, as well as the international repertory including Le Corsaire, or Jewels, to contemporary work by ambitious contemporary choreographers such as William Forsythe, Alexander Ekman and Russel Maliphant. A career highlight has been her role in the creation and performance of Johan Kobborg’s Romeo & Juliet for Polunin Ink, staged at Arena di Verona, a production that received widespread international acclaim.

Throughout the global coronavirus pandemic, leading dance artists and institutions such as Studio Wayne McGregor continued to appreciate and invest in her talent even though the industry faced unprecedented strain, confirming her presence as an emerging artist and professional.

ARTISTIC JOURNEY.

  • EARLY TRAINING.

    Born in Germany, Mirjam received vocational training in classical and contemporary techniques at Gymnasium Essen-Werden in cooperation with The Folkwang University of the Arts. During this time, she was frequently invited to join productions of Aalto Ballet under the artistic direction of Ben van Cauwenbergh.

  • EXPANDING HORIZONS.

    After graduating, Mirjam sought further classical training at The Palucca University of Dance Dresden, the Royal Danish Ballet and Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet in St. Petersburg. Learning from traditional artists such as Mariinsky Ballet Repetiteur Lyubov Kunakova, as well as avant-garde creatives like Roland Petit’s collaborator Denys Ganio, allowed her to become a dynamic and versatile dancer of the 21st century.

  • NEW PERSPECIVES.

    Beyond her artistic development, Mirjam attended King’s College London on a merit scholarship and was awarded a first-class honours degree in Economics and Geography. During her studies, she specialised in macroeconomic theory, business cycles and stock price inflation dynamics. She also studied social sciences at SciencesPo Paris and holds an Associateship of King’s College London after having pursued King’s College London’s original course in Ethics, Religion and Philosophy.

  • A GROWING ARTIST.

    Since the beginning of her stage career, Mirjam has had the pleasure of working with some of the most highly renowned performers and creators in the international dance community. Her performances range from events at local theaters to larger tours that regularly bring her to beautiful stages across Europe.

  • BEYOND THE STAGE.

    BEYOND THE STAGE.

    Since 2019, Mirjam is a part of English National Ballet’s Dance for Parkinson’s Programme . In line with her involvement in the practical relevance of dance, she has also extended her practice as a researcher to embrace the performing arts, using quantitative methodologies and academic insights to advocate the social importance of movement as a social heritage. Lastly, she is expanding her experience as a producer of dynamic works in accessible spaces that advocate the continued relevance of classical ballet.
